How to Organize the Space Under Your Sink

The cabinet under a sink is awkward because pipes take up space and supplies collect there. A good system stays easy to inspect and leaves plumbing accessible.
Plan around the pipes first
Take everything out and inspect
Wipe the cabinet and look for moisture or damage. If there is an active leak, fix that before organizing.
Protect the cabinet floor
A waterproof under-sink mat catches drips and makes a slow leak visible early, before the cabinet base swells.
Sort by task
Group dishwashing supplies, cleaning products, sponges or bathroom refills by purpose. Keep hazardous products in their original containers.
Measure around the plumbing
Measure the clear width and depth on each side of the pipes, plus the opening height. The space is rarely symmetrical.
